About Elizabeth

There is a reason you are here

You have tried everything you know how to do but still feel depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed.

Old behaviors continue and they are impacting your relationships and day-to-day life.

You want to be free from your past but don’t know how to let go and move on.

I am here to help

I’m Elizabeth Fossum, APCC, and I’m so glad you are here.

Reaching out for help is the hardest first step.

I know your struggle is real, and I will work with you to develop a deeper understanding of what is keeping you from living the life you want.

The process of inner work

I believe that inner work is not only a psychological and emotional process, but it is also a spiritual one.

I use a transpersonal approach in my work with clients. This type of therapy takes a more holistic approach, addressing all aspects of a person (mental, physical, spiritual, social, and emotional) with an emphasis on the role of a healthy spirit in healing. I am also trained in CBT, DBT & solutions focused modalities to help you build the coping skills you’re looking for, while also working on the root issues.

While I see and work with many different specialties, here are some I most frequently work with:

  • Depression
  • Teens and Young Adults
  • Grief and Loss
  • Spirituality
  • Parenting
  • Anxiety
  • Life Transitions
  • Relationship Struggles
  • Postpartum Depression Workshops and Groups
  • Play Therapy

My Education & Roots

I was born in Santa Fe, NM, and raised in Colorado. Working in the mental health field has been my passion since I was very young. It was during the tech boom in the late 1990s that I decided to work in a large corporate industry for a period of time, but eventually managed to gravitate back to my original plan where I can support others, watch them grow, heal, and fulfill their goals.

I’ve earned two bachelor’s degrees at the University of Colorado in both business and psychology, and then completed my masters in counseling at Adams State University, also in Colorado.

While in Colorado, after leaving the corporate scene, I worked in various school settings counseling middle and high school age children. After making a family move to California I asserted myself in community, counseling and school support services while establishing my California credentials.

Joining Three Rivers has been a perfect place for me to follow my passion, and help people like you to live the life they’ve always wanted.

When I’m not being a Therapist

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, cooking, or participating in many outdoor sports from snowboarding and mountain biking to paddleboarding, running or hiking. Nature is my go to when I need to re energize, relax or just be! I love learning, growing, and spending time helping others.

Take the first step

Imagine being able to talk about your deepest pain and feeling supported and accepted.

Imagine acknowledging your fears and having tools to work with them and let them go.

Imagine feeling free and hopeful about your future.

Break free from your past and start living the life you have always wanted. In our work together, this is all waiting for you.
